CIR Realtor Jessica Taburada has parlayed her top-notch customer service skills, a strong work ethic and a special understanding of newly arrived immigrants into a successful real estate career defined by the smiling faces of her many satisfied clients.

“I work very hard to understand the needs of my clients, and then harder still to meet them,” Jessica says. “Truly understanding what people want and need is the starting point, and to do that you have to listen.”

Jessica’s customer service skills – she has earned a reputation for being professional, courteous and insightful – come in part from trainings she received in the banking industry. That, and her natural affinity for people.

“I moved into banking because I knew I wanted to work with people,” the graduate in engineering says. “I worked hard to earn my engineering degree, but at the end of the day, I needed to be working with and for people instead of machines.”

Beyond customer service, Jessica brings from her banking background knowledge of the financial world, its requirements, its limitations and its products. “It helps to understand banks when you are helping people buy or sell a home,” Jessica says. “Buying or selling a home is one of the most significant financial and emotional decisions in anyone’s life, and banks almost always figure into it.”

While she works with people from every background to find homes throughout Calgary, Jessica’s area of expertise has become helping new immigrants, many of them from her homeland, the Philippines.

Not only does she share a common background and a cultural understanding with many of her clients, but she says it gives her a great deal of satisfaction to see immigrants achieve the home-owning dream.

“I helped a family with three kids and parents from the Philippines. They didn’t think they could own their home as they didn’t have enough credit history. We pursued their paperwork all the way to the Philippines, which of course took some doing, and on the possession date even the dad was in tears. That was truly moving for me,’ Jessica says.

Following a paper trail across oceans takes the expression ‘going the extra mile’ a lot further than most, proving Jessica’s persistence, her understanding and her strong desire to help her clients in whatever way she can.
